چکیده

For many High School students, the repetitive action such as chewing gum is ideal tool to help them achieve a consistent period of clear focus and wakefulness. However, enthusiast, I have recently noticed very unexpected pattern in my concentration performance when compared task performed. Due this particular reason, study was designed order determine type being performed its relationship effectiveness (this will only examine chewing) on performing different tasks (Complex & Simple task). The research includes review literature, survey, data analysis. already existing literature regarding cognitive suggests that can serve distraction specific environments (such during an exam) participants Tucha Simpson showed more sustained attention 30 minutes into study, with prior time suffering from less than usual. survey between relation While gum, subject’s worsens while conducting complex (tasks requiring critical thinking skills), completing exams, solving puzzles, memorizing details, but improves or hands-on tasks, exercising, copying, coloring. may also exist high accuracy low therefore be distinguishing factor for gum’s influence.

Everyday action in schizophrenia: performance patterns and underlying cognitive mechanisms.

Everyday action is impaired among individuals with schizophrenia, yet few studies have characterized the nature of this deficit using performance-based measures. This study examined the performance of 20 individuals with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder on the Naturalistic Action Test (M. F. Schwartz, L. J. Buxbaum, M. Ferraro, T. Veramonti, & M. Segal, 2003). Performance was coded to ...

Cognitive performance of male and female C57BL/6J mice after repetitive concussive brain injuries

In contact sports, repetitive concussive brain injury (rCBI) is the prevalent form of head injury seen in athletes. The need for effective treatment is urgent as rCBI has been associated with a host of cognitive, behavioral and neurological complaints. There has been a growing trend in the use of female animals in pre-clinical research, but few studies have investigated possible sex differences...

Movement consistency during repetitive tool use action

The consistency and repeatability of movement patterns has been of long-standing interest in locomotor biomechanics, but less well explored in other domains. Tool use is one of such a domain; while the complex dynamics of the human-tool-environment system have been approached from various angles, to date it remains unknown how the rhythmicity of repetitive tool-using action emerges. To examine ...

Impaired Cognitive Performance in Youth Athletes Exposed to Repetitive Head Impacts.

Worldwide, more than 22 million children and adolescents are exposed to repetitive head impacts (RHI) in soccer. Evidence indicates cumulative effects on brain structure, but it is not known whether exposure to RHI affects cognitive improvement in adolescents. The aim of the study was to determine whether exposure to RHI while heading the ball in soccer affects improvement in cognitive performa...
